ITRA has signed a MoU with NIPER-A for the collaborative researches and projects in the field of Natural Product.
Four faculty from the Department of Natural Product, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research – Ahmedabad (NIPER – A) visited Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA), Jamnagar on 9th January 2025. Campus visit of these faculty was coordinated by Dr. Kunal Gohil, Assistant Professor, ITRA pharmacy. The available facilities and infrastructure related to raw drug and its manufacturing along with pharmaceutical, microbiology testing laboratories, Rasa Shastra museum, Dravya Guna Museum and Library with ancient manuscripts were remain area of interest for them. Pharmacology laboratory and Animal house facility were also visited by the faculty of NIPER – A during campus visit.
On 10th January 2025, The director, NIPER – A Prof. Shailendra Saraf and the registrar, NIPER – A, Mr. Avdhesh Nautiyal joined the team and visited Interim WHO GTMC centre and clinical facility of ITRA hospital. After that a short introduction of the faculty from NIPER-A and ITRA were exchanged at the committee room. Mamorandum of Understanding (MoU) was then signed by Prof B J Patgiri, Director, ITRA and Prof. Shailendra Saraf, Director, NIPER – A and then exchanged. Dr. Abhijeet Kate, Associate professor, Dept. of Natiral Products, NIPER – A presented the short presentation about the activity of the department of Natural product of NIPER – A. All the faculty present in this meeting discussed about the possible areas of collaboration and Prof Shailendra Sharaf categorically mentioned to start with small and achievable goals initially for collaborative works. Prof Anup Thakar, Head, Department of Panchakarma also highlighted the need of validation of Ayurveda principles in the language of the contemporary science for better acceptance of Ayurveda globally.
The meeting was ended with the anticipation that this MoU will open up the new horizon for the innovation in the field of Ayurveda pharmaceutics in terms of newer dosage form, newer drug delivery mechanism, extractions and its phytochemical evaluation and many more.
