Dravyaguna, a branch of Ayurveda teaching and learning, deals with various drugs of natural origin, their properties, actions and therapeutic actions. Department of Dravyaguna, ITRA, GAU carryout teaching, research and health care activities. Fundamental principles of Dravyaguna, identification of medicinal plants and their different parts, cultivation, collection, preservation, pharmacovigilance, controversial and unidentified drugs, substitutes, adulterants are the main areas in where teaching is imparted and research are conducted for the students of M.D.(Ayu), M. Pharma (Ayu) and M.Sc. (Medicinal Plants).
Additionally, the required assistance of receiving co-operation in the respective fields of pharmacognostical, analytical, pharmacological and pharmaceutical is which is attached to ITRA is provided by the department; for the students whenever needed in their research. The department is accommodated with a well-furnished museum with variety of drug specimens collected from different regions of the country. There are 451theses, 411 compilations, 125 laminated photographs and around 603 standard drug specimens in the department.
