Department of Rasashastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana

Department of Rasashastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana including Drug Research of ITRA, the pioneer Department in the field of Ayurvedic Drug Research since its commencement is proactively involved in academic activities regarding drug development, drug monitoring, pharmacovigilence, public awareness of ayurvedic medicines, community medicine, industrial pharmacy and clinical pharmacology. Besides development of in house standard operating procedures of classical ayurvedic formulations and their revalidation, the department endeavors in their dosage form modification with evaluation of their safety and efficacy.

The department focuses on developing data on standard manufacturing procedures of ayurvedic formulations, generating safety, toxicity profiles particularly that of metal/mineral based formulations and evaluating comparative clinical efficacies of different dosage forms. The department is actively involved in academics and runs parallel courses of M. Pharm (Ayu.) and Ph.D. in Ayurvedic pharmacy. The department serves above purpose in multifacet manner i.e. through academics, industry collaboration and enrichment of data of pharmacopoeia and databases of Ayurvedic pharmaceutical sciences.
