Visit of Vice Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ghana
India-Ghana AYUSH Cooperation Strengthened
Jamnagar, August 2025:
Prof. Lydia Aziato, Vice Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ghana, visited the Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA), Jamnagar, on August 19-20, 2025. This visit follows the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Traditional Medicine and AYUSH between India and Ghana, during Hon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ghana.
Under the leadership of Director ITRA, Prof. Tanuja Nessari, the visit aimed to deepen India-Ghana collaboration in Ayurveda and Traditional Medicine through joint research, training, and academic exchange.
During her visit, Prof. Aziato toured the ITRA campus, including anatomy dept, Swasthvrutta, Agadtantra, pathology , pharmaceutical laboratories, OPD and IPD blocks, Panchakarma, Animal house, library, and museum. She also engaged in an interactive session with foreign students of ITRA.
Furthermore, Prof. Aziato inaugurated an “Automatic Nucleic Acid Extractor Machine” at Biochemistry laboratory of ITRA, marking a significant milestone in the institute’s research capabilities.
This visit underscores the growing partnership between India and Ghana in the field of AYUSH and Traditional Medicine, and paves the way for future collaborations in research, education, and healthcare.
